Subluxation:

1. Minor misalignment of the segment of the spine
(vertebrae) causing an irratation to a nerve, with a loss of normal function.

2. an interruption of communication from the brain to any cell, tissue, or organ in the body.

A Subluxation is a condition in which one or more vertabrae of the spine are out of alignment. This places pressure on the spinal nerve and affects normal transmission of nerve impulses. The function and healing process of vital parts of the body is often affected.

Subluxations are caused by any stress (physical, mental or chemical) the person cannot adapt to. In the early stages, subluxations affect on muscles, ligaments or sometimes nerves. Although extreme pain has been observed in some cases, it is more often noticed as a discomfort, or not at all. If the condition is allowed to go untreated, the body will attempt to help support the subluxated vertabrae, but may deform instead. As the muscle becomes more rigid , the disc starts to degenerate and become arthritic. Over a period of time, the area becomes calcified and the vertabrae will actually begin to change shape. The longer the condition is allowed to go untreated, the less chance there is for recovery. What began as a minor problem or discomfort may lead to total destruction of the joint and irreversible damage to the nerve.

The purpose of the chiropractic adjustment is to return the subluxated vertabrae to as normal of a position as possible. This will in turn remove pressure off the nerve and restore nerve function to the affected area. If detected early, a subluxation may respond well to chiropractic care with an excellent chance for complete and painless recovery.

Health:

Our Citizens spend ten percent of the nations gross national product on hospital and medical care. We have more doctors and hospitals to serve our population than nearly any other country and yet the United Nations World Health Organization continually rates our population as having one of the lowest general health indexes of any industrialized nation. In other words, the general health of most of America is poor.

Perhaps the reason that the health seems to escape us rather than being our normal experience could be that we do not understand what health is and where it comes from. The World Health Organization has adopted the following definition of health "a state of
optimum physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence of disease and infimity."

Most people think health is having no symptoms. This is truly not the case. In fact, the first symptom of heart disease for forty percent of those who suffer from it is a severe or fatal heart attack!

Symptoms are the end result of the body's ability to function properly. Currently society's emphasis has been on the removal of symptoms rather than on creating an environment in which the body can function as close to 100% as possible.

Health can be achieved and maintained when your emphasis shifts toward creating optimum function, not simply removing symptoms.

Function:

The nervous system is the master controller of all body functions. Health is only possible when all the organs of the body are functioning properly. A loss of health can therefore only take place as the result of a loss of function. If the stomach is not functioning properly one can develop bloating, indigestion, ulcers or even cancer. If the intestines are not functioning properly one can develop constipation, diarrhea and numerous other ailments or diseases. A bone breaks and it has lost its normal function.

One can see from the above examples that without normal function one loses health and only if normal function is restored can we truly say someone has completely regained one's health. According to Grey's Anatomy, the basic text book for all healing arts, the nervous system has the job of controlling the function of all organs and tissues in your body.

It is important to recognize the fact that when function is partially lost, symptoms may not develop for days, weeks, months or years later. If the heart lost 25% of its ability function it might be years before the first chest pain or high blood pressure occurred. If the heart gradually lost its function over time the first symptom could be a fatal heart attack.

Illness fall into one of three categories. The first is traumatic. Trauma can be physical or chemical in nature. Physical trauma results in breaks, cuts, hemorrhaging and resultant loss of function. Chemical trauma would occur if your body came into contact by ingesting, breathing or touching a substance that altered normal function. Persons who lose their health via trauma usually find their way to an emergency room.

The second and more prevalent manner in which illness develops is via a body being receptive to infection. For a neighborhood to get n infestation of rats it must first be receptive. To be receptive for rats there must be garbage and an environment that would attract them. To get an infection one's body must be receptive. Only if one's resistance is down does one get sick. Only if a body does not function normally does one loses one's resistance and thus invite such infections as a cold, bronchitis, pneumonia etc. If having proper function would prevent an infection, then restoring proper function would be a major factor in getting rid of infection.

What is relief care?

Relief care is that care necessary to get rid of your symptoms or pain, but not the cause of it. It is the same as drying a floor that was getting wet from a leak, but not fixing the leak.

Corrective Care

Corrective care differs from relief care in that its goal is to get rid of the symptoms or pain while correcting the cause of the problem as well. Corrective care varies in its length or time, but its more lasting.

Why choose only Relief care?

many times a person chooses relief care ONLY due to failure to understand the benefits of corrective care. corrective care can cost less over time while leading to a more permanent result.

For some people, however relief care may be the unavoidable choice of care due to financial circumstances or personal priorities.

What kind of care do you choose?

If your choice is to receive relief care, please inform your doctor. Three arrangements are necessary to receive full benefit from this phase of care.

1. Once you feel better
Do not dismiss yourself from care. However tell the doctor.

2. Do not Dismiss yourself
once relief has been obtained, inform your doctor and a no cost re-examination will be done to update your records.

3. A Check-Up A must
we will schedule you for a checkup within several months to detect any potential return of the problem.

What is corrective care?

Corrective care is necessary not only to relieve or reduce a person's pain or symptoms, but also to remove the actual cause of the problem.

For Example, a person might have headaches which is resulted from a misaligned vertabrae in the neck which causes irritation to the nerve. The irritated nerve can cause an affect which is a reduction in blood supply to the head which in turn results in a headache.

Relief care focuses on the symptoms: the headaches.
Relief care would be similar to taking aspirin which although it may temporarily alleviate the headaches, does nothing to correct the cause.

Corrective care focuses on making certain the vertabrae, the cause, is corrected and therefore the headaches, the result, are gone.

The difference between relief care and corrective care can be illustrated by the following. Let's say your house is cold because your furnace is not producing heat. For relief care you could buy an electric heater which could take care of your immediate discomfort. In the long run, however, running an electric heater is both less effective and more expensive than fixing the furnance.

How Long does corrective care take?

Not everyone can reach complete correction. Sometimes a person's problem has reached a point that complete correction is impossible. Your doctor will inform you of the severity of your problem and if correction is possible. If complete correction is not possible, then a program to bring your health up to its greatest potential will be explained.
If correction is possible, it normally takes one to six months of intensive car followed by three to fifteen months of stabilization. Correcting a person's structure is similar to pouring cement into a mold. If you remove the mold before the cement hardens, you lose the object you wanted to create.
After the intensive phase of corrective care, visits of once a week to once every two months are necessary to hold your structure in place until it stabilizes. As cement requires time to stabilize, so does your spine. Your doctor can best determine your individual needs.

Why does a person need Health Maintenance?

Maintenance care is made necessary by the stresses of living.
How does Health Maintenance work?

It works to remove the causes of the problems before the symptoms arise or serious conditions show themselves.

What are the Benefits?

You feel better, increase endurance and reduce the risk of health problems.

When should you start?

As soon as corrective care is complete.

Who needs health maintenance?

Anyone who wants the most out of life. Health is vital to be happy.

Health maintenance
Health maintenance patients receive the care they need to stay healthy. Your doctor estimates the number of visits you should need per year, usually from 12 to 40.
Examination costs may also be included.

Budget Plans for Estimated Cost
To help you receive maintenance care, your doctor has several budget programs. Insurance does not pay for preventative care. If an accident or crisis arises and relief or corrective care become necessary, your budget maintenance care program will be temporarily halted. If you have insurance, it will be billed for relief or corrective care. If you have no insurance, relief or corrective care can be paid for on a per visit basis, until maintenance care can be resumed.
If you are unable to complete your yearly maintenance preventative care program, no matter what reason, you will be reimbursed for for any unused paid service. For example, if you paid for twenty visits, yet you only received ten, half your amount will be returned to you. You will only be charged for the services you have received.
